Necessities for Disneyland

I took a Disney trip with my family last Saturday and it was a blast! I wanted to share some "necessities" that I knew I needed to bring on my marvelous Disney day! Keep reading to see what God did!

You may think that making sure to bring your wallet, snacks, and your Disney annual pass is a necessity and it certainly is, but I want to share some spiritual necessities that we don't always think about while on vacation or family outings.

1. Time with Jesus.

Some of you may follow me on my Instagram or Facebook where I shared the sermonette from Oswald Chambers while on my way to Disneyland. It was a picture of the song 'The Cause of Christ" by Kari Jobe, a bible verse, and this quote;

"When we choose deliberately to obey Him, then He will tax the remotest star and the last grain of sand to assist us with all His almighty power." -Oswald Chambers

Psalm 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

These words spoke much truth into my heart by not limiting what God can do with me wherever I am, even when I am at Disneyland! God desires to make my way perfect and to obey Him. I wanted to be yielded in the area of being ready to obey God while at Disneyland and anywhere I go! Every day is a day to live for God. I know sometimes I get the idea that God won't use me while I'm on vacation or that I won't have any ministry opportunities. I sure will not have any opportunities to witness if that is my perspective! I need to be ready to obey Him no matter where I am. Wholesome time with God is definitely a necessity for a Disney day and everyday for that matter!

2. Ask God to use you.

Mt time spent with God was rejuvenating and God had shown me that I need to be illuminating His love everywhere I go! Smile, give an encouraging word to those around you, compliment a stranger, and just always be in communion with God. There are many moments I find myself talking to God while waiting in lines or walking around. I love talking to strangers, and I try really hard to make sure to ask God to help me show His love to those strangers. God is always faithful to answer. Disneyland is an amazing place to meet people from all around the world, and you never know when God will set up a divine appointment for you to speak truth into someone's life.

3. Be ready for God to use you.

I was switching my belongings into my Ewok backpack and I remembered putting a few tracts with the gospel of Jesus Christ in there from my church. I was hoping for an opportunity to share Christ. I know a lot of the times that I don't feel like I've made a difference during the day is, because I am not prepared to be used. It's a step of faith when I prepare ahead of time to share Christ. Although, I wasn't sure how or where. I do hope to make a personal gospel tract in the near future just so I can give people I meet my information and ways we can keep up, because most strangers I meet elsewhere will never come to Coachella Valley. I'd like to find ways to keep in contact and encourage them in the Lord.

4. Talk to a stranger

We were all waiting for the Candle Light Ceremony to start and a couple of ladies came to claim a spot behind us. We were all excited when Chris Pratt came out to do a mic check before the ceremony. All you could hear was "testing, testing.... Hello, Disneyland!" from Chris. It was completely unexpected. I didn't have my hopes up earlier that day wondering who it could be. I was just going with the flow of the day with family. It's funny how those end up being the best days! The ladies behind us were excited as well. I ended up talking to the lady closer to me who happened to be a cast member there at Disneyland! The lady had the day off and took her sister to see the ceremony. She spoke about how Disney treats their employees and how she has been with them for years. Her sister was talking with my cousin, Kathleen, about children and child birth. The conversations continued about the hardships of life and it all casually shifted to God. I was able to talk with the sister about God and some of the deep trials she shared that she is going through. I wrote down her name and her husbands, and told her that I would pray for them. It was a blessing to share what Christ has done for me and to share the gospel with her. She said that she has received Christ, and so I am glad that I could share that Christ never leaves us once He lives within us. I gave both sisters the gospel tracts and said that Bible Baptist has a YouTube channel that they can watch with encouraging sermons and music. The sisters and I were so encouraged that evening before the ceremony that we said who would have known that God would bring us together in a random crowd to encourage one another. God see's our hurts and the hurts of others.

5. Give Thanks

These times are precious and divine. They are from God and if it wasn't for God I would not experience the joys of sharing Jesus with others. It is a necessity to give all glory to God. He makes my way perfect. I need to always make sure to give God thanks for the divine opportunities and  the amazing days that He provides. I know it may seem small to you, but I prayed that my family and I would have a great day at Disneyland. No one was sick that day, the weather was perfect, the lines were short(it was a Saturday), our cousins came to hang out with us, the Candlelight Ceremony was amazing, Hailey found her phone that had gotten lost in the line for Indian Jones, and I had the opportunity to share Jesus with someone else. What a wonderful day.

You never know who God wants you to talk to about Christ. It brings joy to their heart, but also yours. I love divine appointments set up by my loving Heavenly Father.

I hope some of the things God is teaching me is an encouragement to you! Let's be ready and prepared for God to use us anywhere!

Much love,
Mackenzie

The Doctor's Song: Part Two

It's cold, the TV is playing a sermon from a church, its about 5am Sunday morning. I am trying to catch up with some sleep in a dark family room after a night of lying next to Haden as he tossed and turned with wires attached to his brain for seizure readings that entire week. My mom had gone through a week of making sure that he didn't turn too much, and my dad would drive out after full hours of work to be there to support my mom at all the times he could. I was able to get a little sleep that morning, but my mom called saying that I needed to get back to the room. Haden wasn't being very responsive and he seemed extremely lethargic. They took us down swiftly to receive a Brain Scan to see if there was any bleeding(that's the biggest concern since they had a grid on his brain). We waited. My dad was on his way. The news came. They told us that there was some bleeding going on. At this point we didn't know how bad. My mom wanting more answer's, but also tryin...

VBS 2016

Vacation Bible School was definitely a lot of fun with the theme Hailey chose. She wanted to do a "Super Hero" theme with a city feel atmosphere. It was so cute and creative with everything Hailey put together. Her talents keep me completely impressed all the time! I am so thankful she took charge of decorations, skit videos, and flyers. She did a far greater job than I would have ever did. It is so exciting to see how my siblings are discovering, growing, and forming their talents God has given them and using them for God. It's a blessing. A real joy.      My brother, Noah(who has been called to preach), was our speaker for VBS and he did a great job. His humbleness was there. He asked people to pray that God would use each message for each night. His sermons spoke to my heart. Noah spoke on prayer, the bible, and used our theme verse(Matthew  5:16 ) for the last night and it was great!  On the note of those that have helped..... My best friend, Priscilla and m...

The Right Man

Psalm 107: 8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! The Right Man.    The above note was the first promise I made to God before I knew how to spell "marry" or correctly apply proper grammar. I wrote this in my white King James Bible that I had received for Christmas. I had no idea at that time of the struggle of waiting and enduring temptations as a young single girl. I always assumed I would meet the "right man" during my teen years or the bible college years and get married in my early 20s. Those days passed with many times that I would hope and pray only for God to close the door as I asked The LORD if the guy wasn't the right one to shut it tight. Sometimes, I would foolishly try and reopen doors that God had closed. Sometimes, my fingers got smashed as God shut the door. Other times, I would be relieved that God had clarified that certain guys were not the ones. I'd always pray and seek th...
